U-19 pacers Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi eye accuracy over speed

Though India U-19 pacers Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi earned admiration from all quarters for their sheer pace (140kmph-plus) during India's victorious World Cup campaign in New Zealand recently, both bowlers realise that they must focus on accuracy as well for the upcoming Indian Premier League (April 7 to May 27). "In the IPL, bowlers who bowl at 155kmph also get hit regularly. The key is to maintain a correct line and length so that you give away lesser runs.

The idea is to focus on accuracy instead of speed as far as IPL is concerned," Mavi, who was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders for R3 crore at the recent player auction, told mid-day on the U-19 team's arrival in Mumbai on Monday. Noida resident Mavi claimed nine wickets in six World Cup games. Nagarkoti, who shared the new ball with Mavi in New Zealand and claimed nine wickets there, has also been picked by KKR, for Rs.3.30 crore.

His plan is to bowl according to the situation. "It's important to deliver as per the situation and to maintain the right line and length throughout. Of course, speed is my primary weapon, so I will use that too," said Nagarkoti.
